Extra Mile

FSA Greetings from Bill Houston, Muskingum/Morgan CED

Bill Houston, Muskingum/Morgan CED

Everything is fine over here, we stay very busy. Enclosed is a picture of one of my recent visits to a poultry farm. These guys like teasing me. We had to walk about a mile and half to the farm because the culvert was blown up. On the way back the farmer put us all in his truck about 15 of us. They made me ride up front and when I got in they were teasing me that the shocks on the truck went way down. So in any language I'm fat.

These guys were joking with me to trade my boots for their sandles, they also wanted my watch and sunglasses. Fun people.

Thanks for the notes.

Bill

Update on March 25, 2008:

Lots of people emailing today asking how bad it is because the green zone was rocketed. I'm fine. Fortunately, I'm not in the Green Zone. I am actually at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Camp Warhorse, which is northeast of Baghdad, next to a town named Ba Qubah. I do get to Baghdad, but not too often. I spend almost all of my time in the Diyala Province. Don't let the media convince you its worse over here. It is much safer everywhere in the country than it was in December. Ofcourse, we all know its safe until it isn't.

Very positive things are happening here. People are rebuilding their businesses and homes, the streets are crowded and vendors are back in business. The Iraqis even got one of the biggest pump stations in the country started a couple of weeks ago, which means everything here.

It was 107 here today, can't wait until 130.

Went to the GC again today, its been a busy week so far. We start our weeks on Sundays. Fridays are suppose to be our days off, but most of us still put in 8 hours or more. Things are getting better, slowly but moving in the right direction.
